The Social Democratic Nation of Qeaurknoet

This is the final flag. I call it the Qeaurknoet Banner (Cork-nut Banner). The crossed images in the middle are cork-nuts (almonds). The two outer, lager, different-coloured cork-nuts (making a yellow and blue X) represent reason and understanding. The two inner, smaller, same-coloured cork-nuts (making a yellow +) represent unity. The four cork-nuts together represent the future (one based on reason, understanding and unity). They also resemble an atom, which I believe is a very futuristic symbol.

I got the idea of using blue and yellow from the Swedish flag (it was a good suggestion on Aus’s part). I used the blue background and yellow links on my website (www.randomhat.com) to colour the flag. That way, even though the flag was selected based on the suggestions and influences of other people, it retains an element of my personality (even cork-nuts were conceived of by some one else… a parrot, actually). I think the colours contrast with each other nicely, and the overall flag is very pleasing to look at.

The edges are rough because I am using an old version of Paint Shop Pro. I’ll redraw the final design when I return to Canada. I hope you like it.
